Volunteer with SEEDS

We welcome groups & individual volunteers year round.

Our Community is our greatest resource. Throughout the year SEEDS relies on volunteers to maintain every aspect of our mission. We have opportunities for groups and individuals with a variety of interests, experience and schedules.

Come with a group or by yourself; to learn or share your skills with us!.

In the Garden
:
Gardening Volunteer Hours have changed from M-Friday from 9-4 for spring and summer.  Tuesdays are drop-in days, all other times please contact hhill@seedsnc.org to let us know you're coming.

Youth and Kids' Programs: SEEDlings provides a safe, supportive after school environment for neighborhood children ages 7 to 12. Assist the SEEDlings Coordinators with a variety of fun activities and then help kids with their homework. The program meets Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 5:45 pm at the SEEDS office.

Durham Inner-city Gardeners (DIG):
Saturday 9am-12pm

Volunteer with the DIG crew if you are interested in learning about market gardening and food production and like working with young people. You’ll work with a crew of diverse teenagers to grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs for sale at the Durham Farmers’ Market. The DIG crew works Friday afternoons and Saturdays until school is out, then over the summer works several weekday mornings in addition.

Office/Administration
:

Outreach and Publicity - Work with the administrative staff to create program brochures and flyers for events, post and distribute brochures and fliers, issue and follow up on press releases, and represent SEEDS at outreach events.

Work with the administrative staff to assist with special projects such as bulk mailings, data entry and organizing fundraising events. In-Kind Donation Solicitor Work with the administrative staff and the Garden Manager to solicit donations of goods and services that SEEDS needs to fulfill its mission.

Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Heather Hill for further information about volunteer opportunities: 919-683-1197 or hhill@seedsnc.org
