Be a Kid This Summer (Yup, Free Time Travel)
Published Wednesday, May 13, 2015
Do you like working with children in the outdoors? Are you interested in learning more about how to teach kids about nature, gardening, and healthy eating? We need your help!
The Children’s Program is seeking Volunteer Camp Counselors who can dedicate a minimum of 4 hours/day during camp this summer. You will get to spend magical days in the garden with the kids. If you are interested in leading environmental education programs or have a special skill or talent you’d like to share with the kids, we will make sure you get the opportunity.
If you are a teen, you will be eligible for the Mayor’s Award-which requires 100 or more volunteer hours during summer break. Mayor’s Award winners have their picture taken with the Mayor of Durham and are invited to apply to the city’s Student Action Board.
You can volunteer for one or more weeks, but we ask that you commit to one full week for at least 4 hours/day.
