Executive Director Search
Thursday, Mar 2, 2017
My name is Sarah Shapard. I have taken over for Emily Egge as an executive director on a part-time and interim basis.
I’ve only been at SEEDS for a short period of time. But during that time I have seen Emily’s capable hands in everything she has touched including this beautiful building that houses the kitchen classroom and a multipurpose room.
I hope you’ve had a chance to see our urban garden and teaching kitchen. Please consider taking an alternative route passing SEEDS on your way to work.
Now that the organization has shifted away from serving as a community garden to an urban kitchen and garden classroom, SEEDS is looking for a leader who can support this shift.
What matters to SEEDS is finding someone to do great work, who can lead and manage a team, and create strong relationships with people in the community. SEEDS is seeking someone who is driven to maximize the potential of this special organization. As we continue to shift to a youth-focused garden school, SEEDS will need someone who thinks like a teacher and who has the passion to develop the capacity of young people through growing, cooking and sharing food.
We are open to hiring chef-educators, garden-educators, educators in general, and even non-teachers with backgrounds in nutrition, health, social services, business administration or related fields, preferably with connections to Durham.
Our Executive Search Committee and Board of Directors are in the process of finding the candidate who best fits the needs of our organization. (We are no longer accepting applications at this time.)
We look forward to sharing the news of our new Executive Director with you when the time comes. Thank you for supporting SEEDS and helping us grow!
