Summer (Garden + Kitchen) Fun!

Published Wednesday, Aug 2, 2017

Nearly six weeks of summer camp have come and gone, and the time has flown! Campers have gotten their hands dirty in the garden, and gained skills in the kitchen.

Students are buzzing around the garden, exploring different types of pollinators, and taste-testing honey and bee pollen. They’ve gotten their hands dirty, learning about the components of healthy soil. They’ve identified parts of a bee, parts of a flower and different root systems during science lessons with Mr. Herb. They’ve danced through the garden with American Dance Festival instructor Tony Johnson, and sung new songs with guest teacher Shana. We’ve all laughed out loud with Liza, our wonderful Garden Assistant and laughter yoga instructor. And every day, students have tended to the garden, harvested fresh veggies, and cooked them up in the kitchen with our teachers and guest chefs. It’s been a fun-filled and exciting summer.

Next week is our final session for the summer, where it all comes together for “Food Fest,” a celebration of the food that nourishes and sustains us.

The winner will be announced on november 12th.
