Meet Our New Board Members!

SEEDS is excited to announce the addition of three fantastic new board members to our team!

Katryna Robinson – Executive Assistant to the University Librarian at Duke University

Katryna and her family moved to Durham three and a half years ago from New York, and was introduced to SEEDS in 2017 as she was seeking after-school programs that would support her daughter, a first grader with high-functioning autism. Her daughter was not into eating many vegetables, and also had a fear of bees, but as Katryna describes, thrived in the SEEDS classroom and on the farm. Now, Katryna is excited about serving on the SEEDS board to continue to be an advocate for SEEDS programs in the community. She is passionate about how SEEDS will expand its programs to support the whole family and that will allow her to fulfill her dreams of becoming a gardener alongside her daughter.

Austin Moore – Co-Owner, Gateway Building Company

Born and raised in Durham, Austin Moore is passionate about programs that support a thriving Durham. He was introduced to SEEDS through another board member and loves the work that SEEDS does in the community to provide programming that combines sustainability, urban farming, and healthy eating curriculum for youth in the community. Austin also serves on the Keep Durham Beautiful board and is excited to contribute to supporting the farm infrastructure at SEEDS with his background in construction and resource economics.

Jessica Maia – Manager, Data Sciences, BD Technologies

Jessica and her family were introduced to SEEDS in 2017 when looking for an enriching experience in afterschool for their son in kindergarten. Now a year and a half later, she joins the board as a parent who has seen firsthand how happy and engaged the youth at SEEDS are, and how the classroom environment at SEEDS is a safe space for everyone, particularly for students of color. She is excited to be more heavily invested in the Durham community through the SEEDS board and to contribute to ensuring that SEEDS will continue to thrive financially and operationally for future generations of students.

Please join us in welcoming our newest board members!
