DONTAE ANDERSON

Wassup!  I’m Dontae Anderson and I’m glad to be a part of DIG (Durham Inner-City Gardeners).  It is a very beautiful place.  This place has and is helping me grow in so many ways and help me benefit in the future.  We practice organic methods, and believe we won’t sell anything we wouldn’t buy.  You’re welcome anytime to our garden, the pleasure is ours. 

REUBEN BLACK

My name is Reuben Black and I work at SEEDS.  I am fifteen years old.  I go to Northern High School.  I first got interested in SEEDS by doing volunteer work on Saturdays.  I thought that SEEDS was a good place for me to work because knowing how to grow the food we eat is a good learning experience.  I like working at SEEDS because we do a lot of group working.  We get to communicate and have fun while working.  SEEDS is a great place to work if you like gardening.  If you would like to start your own garden, SEEDS can help you by knowing the steps to planting and growing your own food or flowers.  I like to work at SEEDS because the whole working crew makes me feel like I’m at home while doing work. 

FABIAN BURCH

Hello, my name is Fabian Burch.  I have been in the DIG program since May 12, 2006.  I have really enjoyed working at SEEDS.  I have grown crops, weeded, planted, and taken things to the market.  I enjoy the people here.  We have a lot of good times. 

DAVID CLARK

Hi.  My name is David Clark.  I’m 15 years old and I live in Durham, NC.  I attend C.E. Jordan High, where I  am a part of the Jordan Falcon football team.  I work at SEEDS as a part of the DIG “Durham Inner-City Gardener” program.  Working at DIG is a very educational experience.  You learn so much from each other and older people who teach us the garden trade. 

ANTHONY GREEN

Hello, my name is Anthony Green.  I live in Durham, North Carolina.  I work at DIG (Durham Inner-City Gardeners) at SEEDS Community Garden where I have been working for a while.  I have a lot of fun working here at SEEDS.  I have learned a lot of things in the time of being here.  I have learned of things I did not know existed in this world.  I am 16 and I also attend Southern High School.  I am in the 12^th grade and like playing basketball and watching t.v.

JOSEPH HINNANT, JR.

Hi, my name is Joseph Hinnant, Jr., but everybody calls me “Jo-Jo.”  I’ve been involved with SEEDS going on a year now.  I live in Durham, NC, but I was born in California.  I work at SEEDS Inner-City Garden and I “LOVE” working here.  In my spare time I play football for Southern Durham High School.  I’m in 11^th grade and I adore the outdoors.  If you ever feel like enjoying a great learning experience then you and others should stop by.  I LOVE SEEDS!

DIAMOND LINEN

Hey, my name is Diamond Linen.  I am 14 years old.  I was born and raised in Durham.  I started working at SEEDS in March 07.   I love working at SEEDS because it gives me the chance to learn different things about gardening and it also helps me work towards a career in a biotechnology field, maybe as an agricultural engineer.  SEEDS is a place where you can meet new people and meet new plants.  Also, SEEDS helps me grow as a person because instead of me just knowing how to step, dance, play basketball, and baseball, people can know me as the girl who doesn’t go to the market or store because I have my own garden.  Thanks to SEEDS I’m learning so much and changing a few things about myself, and if you come to SEEDS you will too. 

TASHA MCMILLAN

Hey!  I’m Latasha (Tasha).  This experience has been good.  It gives me a chance to experience working in a garden before starting my own.  I’m fifteen, single and happy.  My birthday is Halloween and I’m just terrific!

DESTINEY ROBINSON

Hello, my name is Destiney Robinson.  I live in the city of Durham, North Carolina, where I was born and raised.  I am 14 years old and I work at SEEDS inner city garden.  I’ve been working here for a total of 3 weeks and I can truly say I enjoy working here. 

KRYSTAL SHELBY

My name is Krystal Shelby.  They call me Krystal Light.  I am 14 years old and I work as part of DIG, at SEEDS.  I love SEEDS.  It is a good working place to be because you learn how to work with others and you learn how to plant.  I tis a good job and I love the people in SEEDS.  It is a good place if you love the outdoors and the things that come with SEEDS. 

MARKYSE SMALLWOOD

My name is Markyse Smallwood and I am 16 years old.  I go to Southern High School and I’ve lived in Durham for 2 years, but I’m Baltimore born and raised.  I am a member of DIG where my job is to teach kids my age how to start and grow a garden.  The reason why I wanted to work here is because I wanted to learn more about growing, gardening, and where my food comes from.  I love working as a part of DIG.  I have built a career around this job so it is a part of my life now. 

RICARDO ROSAS TAPIA

My name is Ricardo Rosas Tapia.  I am fifteen years old.  My favorite thing to do is draw.  My favorite sports are boxing and soccer.  I like basketball too.  Also I like to listen to music and my favorite colors are blue and gray.  I work at SEEDS in the DIG program.  I like working at SEEDS because it is fun to work with nature.  Also, we are always working in groups, so you can talk and have fun while you’re working.  SEEDS is a great place to work.  If you want to come and weed with us, we will be waiting for you.
