Happiness is being grateful for the people around you.Come join SEEDS as we show you how grateful we are for our past, present and future volunteers. Not a volunteer yet? That’s okay – we’re inviting everyone to help us celebrate those who help to keep the Southside Garden beautiful and abundant.  This event, taking place on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm,  is in celebration of all of our past, present, and future volunteers, however anyone is welcome to attend.

Please wear your favorite garden hat.

We’re encouraging folks to bring flowers and greenery to bestow on each others hats. At noon we’ll take a picture of everyone together and the floral hat demonstration of our gratefulness for each other. Let us share the idea of Ubuntu together- “I am what I am because of who we ALL are.”

“One of the sayings in our country is Ubuntu – the essence of being human. Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can’t exist as a human being in isolation. It speaks about our interconnectedness. You can’t be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality – Ubuntu – you are known for your generosity. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole World. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity.”

 – Bishop Desmond Tutu on the meaning of Ubuntu, 2008
