Erin (she/her)
Director of Operations
Erin Holden is the Director of Operations at SEEDS, where she supports the organization’s daily functions, program coordination, and long-term operational stability. She holds a B.S. in Geology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and brings a strong foundation in earth systems science to her work in environmental education and community-based programming.
Prior to SEEDS, Erin worked in administrative services at Duke University Hospital, where she developed extensive experience in organizational systems, coordination, and operational efficiency within a complex healthcare environment. This background informs her ability to support mission-driven work with strong infrastructure, attention to detail, and responsive management practices.
Erin also brings deep expertise in native plant ecology and kitchen garden design, with a focus on creating accessible, productive, and ecologically resilient growing spaces. Her work integrates practical food production with habitat restoration principles, supporting both human and environmental health.
Raised on Hatteras Island within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Erin developed a lifelong connection to coastal ecosystems and the natural world. This upbringing fostered a unique and personal understanding of environmental change, resilience, and the relationship between communities and their landscape, an orientation that continues to guide her work at SEEDS.
At SEEDS, Erin combines operational leadership with ecological knowledge and a place-based approach to education, helping ensure that programs remain grounded, sustainable, and deeply connected to the natural systems they depend on.
