About the DIG Program


Please note: Due to the Coronavirus we are currently not operating in-person programs at SEEDS. Our Farm Manager has lots for DIG students to do virtually! Please email him at thyde@seedsnc.org for more information or to stay connected.  We are currently still accepting applications for summer DIG crew at this time. Follow along on our Facebook and Instagram  for all of the ways we are serving students during this time.

DIG is a youth-driven, urban farming and leadership development program. This program is available to high school students and recent high school grads. The DIG crew work together to accomplish meaningful work that impacts their community, such as managing the market garden and farm stand, participating in workshops, cooking healthy meals for one another, fighting for food justice, and engaging in leadership and team building activities.

The DIG program runs Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, which alternates between a market day and a farm day; the commitment is about 10-12 hours per week. Each youth member is paid a competitive wage for their work at SEEDS and has opportunities to cultivate their own farm space to bring produce to market or take home to their family.

Please note: we are re-evaluating the structure of the DIG program for student safety for the Fall of 2020.
